Now, for my opinion. I doubt it's a popular opinion but that's okay. Let me preface this by saying I personally have many questions and criticisms of the way the natural disasters were handled. My criticisms and questions encompass the event from preparation to response and everyone involved from the President of The United States to the individuals who lost everything. I won't get into all of that here. Tim McGraw said he didn't see why the leader of the free world couldn't go down there and make sure things are being done. I don't see why Tim and Faith can't cancel their Soul2Soul II Tour and spend a couple months in the area. I'm sure any number of groups in that area could use volunteers. I, for one, would be more impressed if they took action. Yes, they're raising money for the victims. So are countless other stars and thousands upon thousands of individuals across the country. I'm more impressed by people like Jack...people who go and get thier hands dirty. That's more productive than a couple of country stars sitting around calling the response embarrassing.
I'm not saying they shouldn't have made the statements. I'm not even saying I disagree with them. I just don't like the "He should do something more. We're about to go on tour and make loads of money" concept. It just so happens Faith Hill grew up in Mississippi and Tim McGraw is a native of Louisiana. I wonder...would they react so strongly if the disasters hadn't touched their home states? After all, they usually don't voice political opinions.
